Plaza Hotel Losing Charm in Foyer, Gaining Grandeur in the Rooms

April 15, 2008 by jewelandie

The Plaza hotel as the owners claim has now gone from five star to six star luxury and those who can take a stroll around its premises can confirm that its re-hab is not nearly as bad as some reports make it out to be. Perhaps hitting the stratosphere with its levels of luxury might be an exaggeration, but if you can afford to spend a night or two in the rooms you’ll be thoroughly impressed with the beauty of furniture and fittings and service. If you’re not sure why I’m including this on this blog, then take a look at the picture.
Luxurious Crystal Chandelier in Every Bedroom
Yes your own private crystal chandelier with a gold finish (pseudo-gold – no doubt). In every bedroom, did I hear you ask? Ask me again next year, when I’ve got slept in all the rooms. Well I can dream can’t I!

The Elegance of Antiques Highlighted by Crystal Chandeliers

April 12, 2008 by jewelandie

There really are very few things more impressive than an elegant crystal chandelier. See how beautifully all the antique furniture is complemented; see how balanced and beautifully portrayed they all are. Those elegant Chippendale period tables thought to be George III pier all perfectly blend with that walnut color wood – probably a veneer but beautiful just the same. The chandelier itself is called a Century Baccarat. If you’re interested you’d better shoot along to the historic town of Marlborough in Wiltshire UK.
Indeed it would not surprise me to see a large increase in demand for antique furniture and chandeliers in general. This will be prompted by the flooding of the market with cheap Chinese crystal chandeliers and the like. This is not so difficult to see when you consider famous shops like Liberty of Regent Street in London are now selling dragon chandeliers for around $500. Though let us be gracious and say that beauty is beauty no matter how cheap. How many of you are wincing from that?

Setting Beautiful Scenes with Crystal Chandeliers

March 17, 2008 by jewelandie

The Trident Castle in Jamaica is set to become an annex to the Trident hotel. One could well imagine that many celebrity would welcome the occasional weekends in a seven bedroomed hideaway. This magnificent building is beautifully decorated throughout with a mixture of Venetian architecture and no doubt sporting many a Murano glass artifact. The dining room itself holds the largest and longest formal table in the country and is duly ornamented with a crystal chandelier.

For those seeking a more restful period of retreat, there is a consecrated chapel within the poverty, and not to mention the guardhouse swimming pool and private boat landing and housing facilities. If you’re thinking you might enjoy a break away in a place like this you him all the August company or film stars such as Johnny Depp. It is recorded that even the late President of America John Kennedy visited there.

Murano Chandeliers in Cuba

March 5, 2008 by jewelandie

With the stepping down of Fidel Castro as the leader of Cuba, there has been a flood of public interest in this near forgotten haven in the West Indies. Haven do I hear you ask? Well it may be considered a time capsule of those rather forgotten colonial days of the Caribbean. There has been a stream of tourists there and they do comment on the pure beauty of its somewhat quaint, third world streets around atmosphere of days gone by. Many of the little rural towns and resorts have cobbled streets and 1 such place is known as Trinidad, which I should hasten to add has virtually no resemblance to the better known and overly touristy companion island of the West Indies.

A browse through the streets of this world Heritage site reveals a central square with avenues of palm trees, many adorned with traditional Spanish colonial mansions. And there you will find a rather wealthier one known as the Museo de Romantica, which, amongst many others of its collection of exquisite imported antiques, includes a highly impressive Murano glass chandelier, worth its weight in Havana cigars as the locals boast!

What if you can’t take your crystal chandeliers with you?

After the latest round of parties in Hollywood and following on from the Oscar awards ceremonies, it seems that many people have decided to give a glimpse of their more homely features by featuring them as miniature jewellery, thus the plethora of Diamond chandelier earrings. list of stars wearing these ka-chinky attachments included the likes of Jennifer Hudson, and Ruby Dee.

Smoking Hot Murano Chandeliers

February 25, 2008 by jewelandie

Last week there was a devastating fire at the Venice Lido’s Hotel des Bains, a popular hangout for the visitors to the Venice Film Festival. sadly many rooms over three floors were completely burnt out and some of their precious Murano glass chandeliers, amongst other precious items and art Nouveau objets d’art, were totally destroyed in the four hour blaze. Fortunately no one was hurt, but unfortunately there are no plans through immediately reopening. Being in Venice and with Murano in their backyard, so as to speak, let’s hope they stock up with an equally impressive display of Murano glass and crystal chandeliers in the near future. Though most people will no doubt have preferred the originals. Let’s wait and see.
